Pets? We don’t call them pets here. Instead use company animal or even, children.

If you’re a dog lover, you probably know that some companies allow their employees to bring their dogs to work. It’s a growing trend that many people are enjoying, as it not only improves employee morale and happiness but also helps to reduce stress levels. However, there is a common misconception that these animals are merely “pets.” In fact, these furry friends are often considered as children to their owners. Therefore, we believe that company animals and mostly dogs shouldn’t be called “pets.”

In Canada, the US, and the Emirates, people often use the following keywords to find information about their pets and dogs: pet care, pet-friendly workplace, dog-friendly workplace, pet policies, and pet-friendly companies. These search terms indicate that people are looking for ways to incorporate their furry friends into their lives and workplaces.

Many dog owners consider their pets to be their children, and they treat them as such. They provide them with food, water, shelter, and medical care, just as they would for a human child. They also spend time training and socializing their dogs, taking them for walks, and providing them with plenty of love and attention.

For many people, dogs are more than just pets; they are members of the family. They provide companionship, unconditional love, and loyalty. Dogs are often considered a part of the family unit and are included in family events, such as vacations and holidays.

In addition to the emotional benefits, having dogs in the workplace has been shown to have a positive impact on productivity and workplace morale. Dogs can help to reduce stress levels and increase employee engagement, which can lead to increased job satisfaction and lower turnover rates.

So, why shouldn’t we refer to these animals as pets? Using the term “pet” implies a sense of ownership and detachment. It suggests that the animal is merely an object or possession, rather than a living, breathing creature with feelings and emotions.

Instead, we should use terms like “company animals” or “workplace companions” to reflect the relationship that many people have with their dogs. These terms acknowledge the importance of the animal in the owner’s life and the role that they play in the workplace.

In conclusion, dogs are not merely pets to their owners; they are family members, companions, and sometimes even co-workers. Therefore, we should avoid using the term “pet” when referring to these animals and instead recognize the important role that they play in our lives and in the workplace.
